Centerpiece – Label Cutter

An iPhone app for cutting a record label out of a photo.

Take a photo of a record, or pick one from your library. Centerpiece finds the label, cuts it out, and exports it as a PNG with a transparent background, ready for design, video, and other creative work. Everything happens on your device.

FAQ

How do I cut out a label?

  1. Open Centerpiece and take a photo of the record with the camera, or choose one from your photo library.
  2. Centerpiece detects the label automatically. Check the preview and adjust the selection if needed.
  3. Export when it looks right.

For best results, how should I photograph the record?

Shoot from directly above, with even light and the whole label in frame. Avoid strong glare and heavy shadows across the label. A plain, contrasting surface helps detection.

The label wasn't detected correctly. What can I do?

Retake the photo from straight above in better light, or adjust the selection by hand in the editor. Blurry or very dark photos are the most common cause. If it keeps failing, email me the photo and I'll look into it.

How do I export a transparent PNG?

Once the label is cut, use the export action to save it to Photos or share it. Centerpiece exports PNG, which keeps the transparent area outside the label.

My exported PNG shows a white or black background.

The file is transparent, but some apps preview transparency as a solid color. Open it in an editor or video tool that supports alpha (for example Photoshop, Figma, Keynote, or Final Cut Pro) and the background will be clear. Share it as a file rather than through apps that flatten images to JPEG, such as some messaging apps.

Where are my exported labels saved?

Only where you send them. If you choose Save to Photos, they go to your photo library; if you choose Share, they go to the app or location you pick. Centerpiece keeps no cloud copy.

Why does Centerpiece ask for camera and photo access?

Camera access is used to photograph your record. Photo library access is used to import a photo you choose and, if you ask, to save the exported label. See the Privacy Policy.
